ICT developments over the past decade had a colossal impact on all aspects of life globally. Telecommunication is now recognized as a driving potential for many economies of the world. Radiocommunication services form an integral part of daily life. They can be used to disseminate information of immediate importance on a national level, as a channel for education, for strengthening the integration and social fabric of a country, for enriching the national culture and for connecting rural and urban areas, and acts as an essential element in the development of national infrastructure.
In order for these services to operate in the best possible environment, and provide space for accommodating new technologies, International Telecommunication Union (ITU) organizes a World Radio Conference every four years. All member countries of the ITU discuss and negotiate their proposals at the conference.
The twenty two Arab countries come together under the umbrella of ASMG to discuss their individual proposals in order to reach an agreement and develop common position for these kind of conferences. ASMG also provides an opportunity to the member countries for cooperating and collaborating with each other on all issues related to Spectrum Management.
